I’ve spent the last couple weeks making this art doll. She started with a wire armature wrapped with masking tape, papier-mâché was added for bulk, and Creative Paper Clay was used to sculpt her final shape. I knitted her shawl from sparkly yarn I had spun from roving on a drop-spindle years ago, and her gown was sewn from some stash fabric. I wanted to add sparkle so a rhinestone holds her shawl together and Czech glass seed beads were sewn to her skirt. She has a whole body underneath (photo below), even a sexy leg-slit down the back. I think she’s more matronly but she thinks otherwise.
Oh my, her expression says it ALL!! The sexy leg-split down the back is PERFECT!! - I LOVE her!! - ;))
ReplyDeleteawesome doll Barbara-she has character and spunk
ReplyDeleteI love her Barbara. I can't tell if she is disappointed with someone or studying something. But either way, she has wonderful personality and what a lovely face. Happy start to your weekend. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteI laughed at Erika's comment - I see it as disappointed also. Like a mother who is thinking "I am so disappointed in you!" The facial expression is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteSorry this is a generic message, but it's all I could pull together. Late Thursday as I headed to the basement, I caught my sleeve on the railing and lost my balance. I fell down 13 of the 14 steps to the basement floor. I laid there for what seemed like hours, but in reality was probably little more than 20-30 minutes. When I was able to get up, I realized I had hurt my back enough that all I could do was lie on it. I have trouble sitting or standing. I hope you understand. If I normally visit you every day, I hope/plan to feel better by Monday. Thanks for your support and understanding. PLEASE, NO SYMPATHY. It was my own stupidity.
ReplyDeleteShe's a true mixed media gem, Barbara. Love the look on her face.
Take your time getting well, Elizabeth! We will all still be here when you get back.
