I saw these in the woods behind our house while retrieving my trail camera. I tried to find them online but there are many kinds with very long names, so I gave up. They are quite large. Are they the kind I’ve sometimes seen with hand-carved images? If you know what they are, please comment.
Are they some kind of shelf fungus? I think they are the ones people do artwork on. They are fascinating.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Debra - they ARE fascinating! They look like puffy pancakes or stair steps for a drunk tree gnome - LOL - ;))
ReplyDeleteI know they are a type of shelf fungus, but no idea what the actual name is. They are pretty amazing though.
ReplyDeleteThey are certainly interesting. I am not a mycologist--and wouldn't dream of eating wild mushrooms since I don't have a clue. But I love the astounding variety of mushrooms that I have seen.
ReplyDeleteMy grandson and I love to go around and look at all of the mushrooms....so many variations.
